New Life, New Learning, New Growth!

It may have been a short term, but here at Aspire Farm School, we’ve packed in a whole lot of learning, hands-on experience, and unforgettable moments across our campuses.
We kicked things off with a bang as students from our Hale Farm campus represented us brilliantly at the South of England Spring Live Show, competing in the young handlers pygmy goat classes. Not only did students learn how to prepare and show goats with skill and care, but they also showed incredible resilience and emotional maturity on the day—an experience that will stay with them for years to come.

This term, across our campuses we have welcomed a flurry of lambs, kids, chicks, quails, and goslings, adding joy and curiosity to our daily routines. We’ve even got turkey eggs incubating—watch this space! Students have enjoyed exploring the differences and similarities between turkey, peacock, goose, and chicken eggs—what a brilliant and tactile way to explore biological diversity.
In our gardens, green fingers have been hard at work. The new polytunnel at Hale Farm is up and thriving, thanks to thoughtful planning, research, dedication and teamwork. Students are beginning to identify different veggies, learn where food comes from and try new foods. (Although, I never see hide nor hare of a strawberry, they all seem to vanish!)
At the Macs Farm, the veg patch is an explosion of food, colour and creativity with sweet pea towers, beans and potatoes galore—our students are becoming true soil scientists and garden designers!

A real highlight this term was a visit from Flick, an archaeologist from Archaeodiscovery, who led a dig site experience at Hale Farm. Students got hands-on as junior archaeologists for the day, learning about the past in the most memorable way possible. Muddy, inquisitive, and full of questions—just the way we like it!

We were also pleased to join the Mac’s Farm team at their Open Day, where we showcased what Farm School is all about. It was a fantastic chance to share our ethos and celebrate all the hard work, creativity, learning and joy that takes place each and every day at Farm School.
And as we wrap up Term 5, we’re gearing up for another big event: our students will be taking our sheep to the Heathfield Show, stepping back into the ring to show in the young handlers class. We can’t wait!
What a term it’s been. Thank you to all our students, staff, families, and animals for making it so special.
Here’s to the sunshine & more adventures in Term 6.
