Welcome to Aspire Farm School

Aspire Farm School is an East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove Councils' assured Alternative Provision, delivering a unique therapeutic Farm School curriculum for vulnerable children and young people who are unable to fully access mainstream or specialist education, or who are at risk of social, emotional or academic exclusion.

Operating across four campuses in Chiddingly, Ditchling, Heathfield and Polegate, our carefully designed programmes provide meaningful, hands-on learning through animal management, equine experiences, bushcraft, practical land-based activities, introductory trade skills and STEM. Every programme is tailored to meet individual needs, helping students develop confidence, resilience, independence and a renewed enjoyment of learning.

Proud recipients of the 2025 & 2026 Pearson National Teaching Award for Excellence in SEND and Inclusive Practice, Aspire Farm School is led by two former Deputy Headteachers with over 30 years of combined experience spanning primary, secondary, further and independent education.

Our dedicated team of experienced teachers and highly qualified activity leaders create a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, valued and understood.

Students can be referred to us for:

  • A lack of engagement in school
  • SEND support
  • EOTAS (educated otherwise than at school) packages
  • ESBA, anxiety, poor mental well-being and self-esteem issues
  • A lack of pro-social behaviours
  • A pattern of negative relationships with adults and peers

We specialise in working one-to-one with young people aged 7-17, with or without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), enabling each learner to progress at a pace that is right for them.

Working in partnership with parents, carers, schools, local authorities and other professionals, we empower children and young people to overcome barriers to learning, rebuild confidence and develop the skills they need to thrive.

We offer 1:1 learning opportunities for students to explore, learn, reset and gain confidence through our clear therapeutic approach.

Our Farm Schools will:

  • Provide a place for students to develop emotional well-being and self-confidence
  • Engage students with learning through hands-on, practical activities
  • Provide opportunities for students to develop teamwork and communication skills
  • Provide opportunities for students to gain experience in animal care, horticulture, basic trades, or other farm-related tasks
  • Provide opportunity for students to develop improved behaviours and ability to follow routines and expectations
  • Engage students in learning about future education, training, or employment.

Vision and Ethos

Our vision is to give every child the opportunity to thrive in our farm-based learning environment where children are safe to explore, be with animals and nature and develop new skills.

We believe that one size does not fit all and through opportunities to learn outside the classroom, students will reset, develop, broaden their horizons, and thrive.

We pride ourselves on our ability to meet the needs of our children and families. We understand the many different barriers to learning and how these can impact on a child's success and ability to engage in formal educational settings.

Student Farmer Kit

We’re delighted to share that the Aspire Farm School Student Farmer kit is now available.

While this kit is not essential, we recognise how important it is for our young people to feel a genuine sense of belonging. Feeling part of something meaningful helps build pride, identity, confidence, and community.

To support this, we are introducing Student Farmer T-shirts and hoodies, which are now available to order.

This is entirely optional - there is absolutely no expectation or pressure to order. We understand that some students already have their own farm clothing or kit that they feel comfortable wearing, and that is completely fine.
